Chehalis Indian Band

The Chehalis Indian Band FNST Division is sponsored by Hemlock Mountain and the Chehalis Community School.
The community school is a part of the Chehalis Education Department that includes the Sts’Ailes Early Education Center and the Chehalis Post Secondary/Human Resources department. The new school was opened in 1982 and received a major expansion in 2001 that included a new gym, resource room, cultural education room, computer lab, and administration area.

Chehalis Community School is nested among the majestic forest and mountains along the Chehalis River, within the community of the Chehalis First Nation.

The school is controlled by the Chehalis Education Committee, appointed by the governing authority, the Chehalis Chief and Council.

Chehalis Community School serves the communities of Chehalis, Scowlitz, and Lakahamen. There are approximately 152 students enrolled in the school. The school is designed to handle up to 170 students. Students are transported to the school via a 72 or 21 passenger bus. A 15 passenger van is also used for transporting students and teams to various school sanctioned events.
